For Water Well Drilling Fort Stockton Is Worth Visiting

By Amanda Hughes

Currently, there are three types of wells in existence. The type of water well that one wants to make will determine the kind of service company or contractor they will hire. The three types of wells are dug wells, driven wells, and drilled wells. Some wells are more common in certain places than others. Dug wells for instance are most commonly found in less-developed countries or in rural areas. When one needs Water Well Drilling Fort Stockton Offers the perfect location to visit.

Dug well still exist since some people are not able financially to hire the services of a drilling company. These regions are also less developed thus cannot access the latest drilling technology. Finally this is more suitable in areas with deep water-tables.

For several years back, dug wells were very common. However, as more individuals access technology, they are becoming less common every day. Dug wells are constructed using hand shovels. An individual digs a hole in the ground until underground water is accessed. As this digging occurs, buckets are employed to scoop water and empty it out of the hole. This procedure takes place till there is too much water to be emptied from the hole that more digging can be done.

Digging these kinds of wells beyond the water-table is difficult. Such wells may become dry in dry seasons hence are not the best. To prevent them for drying, digging is done in dry seasons. Digging these wells comes with many challenges and risks. Death has occurred to individuals due to lack of oxygen when the hole is too deep. When loose soil collapses, individuals have been buried alive in other instances.

Today, another type of well in use is the driven wells. They may not be too popular but are being used in various parts of the world. These wells are dug by powering a small diameter pipe into soft soil such as gravel or sand. A screen is used to get rid of sand and other particles that make their way into the pipe.

Driven wells cannot go very deep because the pipe cannot be driven in hard soil. The wells are usually very shallow as a result. The shallowness of the wells is one of their major disadvantages. The shallow well is usually susceptible to surface contaminants, which make the water not suitable for drinking or use in domestic applications.

Lastly, drilled wells are excavated using a drilling rig. The process is expensive, but the wells are durable and produce safer water free of contaminants. Drilling rigs used in this process are usually mounted on big trucks. Drilling rigs may have various kinds of bits attached to them for drilling. Some of the types of drill bits in use today include rotary drill bits, percussion bits, and auger bits.

For hard rock, rotary drill bits are designed to drill through such surfaces. Hard materials like diamond are used to make drill bits. Auger bits are designed for soft ground while percussion bits cut through rock by smashing. Drilled wells are usually very deep. The depth may extend more than 1000 feet. Pumps are used to pump water out of them for domestic use.
