Things You Should Know When Making A Reflow Soldering Oven

By Angela Fisher

As much as it is difficult and expensive to come up with a reflow oven, one must appreciate that it is more efficient and faster compared to a traditional oven. Electrical engineers and hobbyist have come up with better ways of designing and constructing a reflow soldering oven. Below are steps that are followed for that purpose.

It is crucial to ensure that you have all the materials required for the process to start. Note that, there is need to use high-temperature silicon glue to seal the gaps that were there before. The adhesive is applied when thick; hence, taking much time to cure. Without including the time taken in curing, it is good to know that the time required to complete the construction entirely is a maximum of eight hours.

When opening the old machine, it is vital to take the precaution keenly. A lot of power and temperature is used in this device, and slight mistakes can lead to fatal accidents. A good space has to be made for the fixing of designed controller. The older system has no more use in the machine. Wires used should be left long and all gaps needs to get sealed after the removal of panels.

The relay assembling is vital. It would be wise to note that the controller that is fixed in the device you are modifying should support the two relays; those are the solid state and mechanical relays. The relay to use is determined by the level at which one utilizes the machine. For those that are regular users, it is advisable to use the solid state relays. Others can use the mechanical system. Movements are less; thus, the parts do not wear out at all levels.

The power supply is essential since it controls everything in the oven. A voltage power of 5 is used to ensure that the machine works efficiently. Note that, the PVC used do not burn or get damaged as the power reflow in the system. Low and high voltage wiring is done as required by the specialist. Care should be taken during the activity to avoid accidents. For proper functioning of the device, wiring should be done correctly.

For insulation purposes, ceramic fibers are most preferred. They are elegant and sharp; thus, they do not penetrate thick skin. One should take care to ensure that you do not get your eyes and tissues irritated. The top of your equipment should remain warm during reflow. Proper insulation will make sure that the equipment is provided with the required services for an extended period. One should also remember to add a door seal at the end of the day.

Installation of the PCB tray is paramount. It determines how heat flows as the device operates. Make sure that you use aluminum, not steel. All metals that have excellent conductivity are excellent to use in this work. Make use of the ranks in the equipment when you have reduced wires in it to reduce the thermal mass.

Only those that are experts in this area of specialization participate in the designing and processing activities. A lot of experience and skills are required for the construction to be useful. Precaution should be taken to avoid unnecessary accidents that can be caused by power connections.
