How To Properly Clean Printheads

By Jerry Hughes

As the world have been totally exposed to modernization, almost all of the things that are suppose to be manually done are given an electronic way of finishing it. Perfect example are those paper works that used to be all handwritten and time consuming whether for office workers or students. But, now there were printers that are useful to make it all easy to accomplish just a few clicks and the documents needed are well organized and finished. For a printer to provide an excellent printing quality, it should have a great videojet printhead.

This is not so big electronic component or technology that is assembled inside the printers so that the quality of print outs are made better. It as well prevent some minor problems that are common on printers when or if printing. These following trouble may include label slippage, web jams and also paper jams. This may sound pretty common but it does not mean, it does not give enough headache to those who experience it.

It goes without saying that better technology for printheads would even mean a faster printing time and lesser mistakes. It regulates pressure that somehow makes the performance of printers be on its top optimal quality. With that, it only is a necessity to maintain the printhead in a way that would expand and achieve its longevity to keep it giving the operation it suppose to give.

The cleaning of printheads are done at least once every week. It should be in a careful manner so that diluting the ink system from those excess cleaning fluids that were used can be avoided. One thing to always remember is that during shutdowns, do not clean the printhead.

The reason of which is it would allow the cap of ink to dry at the very end of the nozzle. Its ink cap is actually what prevents the clogging on the nozzle, this blocks any air from going inside the nozzle. During shutdown, this will not be working like this and there lies the possibility of dry ink from clogging.

However, to proceed into the weekly cleaning and maintenance, safety must not be neglected. Thus, to prevent any hazard to the body and properties it should be double checked if the AC power of printer is turned off. The power and compressed air supply should also be unplugged from the wall socket so there are no live electricity.

Once all are set on that part, move on to locating screw that holds printhead on its place and using a screwdriver and loosen it. After doing so, notice how it will allows sliding of printhead out of its cover. Have it completely removed to proceed with the actual cleaning.

Then proceed to inspecting for dried particles as well as ink that is on the surface of nozzle and charge tunnel. This time, the next step would be grounding printhead. Place it on a downward position on a grounded service tray then flush all those accumulated particles around it using a videojet cleaning solution.

If everything is cleaned and neat, let it dry. Never use tissue paper nor clothing to dry it completely. Now, right before assembling everything back to normal, neat up the covers too.
