Granola is a snack or breakfast food consisting of puffed rice, rolled oats, nuts and sweeteners like honey. During the process of baking, it is being stirred in order to maintain the consistency until golden brown, toasted and crisp. Dried fruits or chocolates are usually added after and fresh fruits, yogurt or milk are usually eaten together with it.

There are numerous people who is fond of eating this food specially hikers and campers due to it being easy to pack and carry and being nutritious. It helps with digestion because of its rich fiber content which are both soluble and insoluble. The fiber makes bowel solid by adding bulk and weight so it can pass the digestive tract easier. Soluble fiber is good for mitigating symptoms of constipation while insoluble one harden loose stools to reduce diarrhea occurrence.

It can help you lose weight due to it being lightweight and yet filling and having the factors chronic obesity, sodium and cholesterol, lowered. Fiber absorbs water also and bulks up the food making the body feel full. Overeating is prevented which for obese people it is a common problem as well as those on diet which easily get hungry from time to time.

Harmful cholesterol is reduced and healthy cholesterol is being spread throughout the body. Plaques are developed by harmful ones in veins and arteries and can be prevented when harmful cholesterol is reduced and avoid the increased blood pressure and strains in cardiovascular system. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts used in granola have omega fatty acids.

It boosts energy which makes it very popular for people who likes doing outdoor activities like hikers and campers. This is not done with sugars that would make feel sluggish after but by manganese which is essential for kidneys, liver and metabolic activity. The resources are properly distributed throughout the body by stimulating tissues.

It contains a natural antioxidant, vitamin C, which stimulates white blood cells, prevents the formation of cancerous cells and boost the immune system. This also contains manganese that has antioxidant properties which eliminates the free radicals which are the cause of healthy cells to mutate into cancerous cells. The chances of having dangerous conditions like heard disease and cancer is reduced.

Lower blood pressure resulting in the increase of blood and oxygen flow, system strain reduced and veins loosened. Though you should be warned of eating too much of granola despite all the health benefits you can get from it. Because this is essentially carbohydrate cooked in fat that can produce chemicals the body would not be able to digest. Puffed rice which acts as a filler could be a source of empty calories which has little or no nutritional value.
